Smooth Release Change at MEDA Manufacturing GmbH in Cologne

In close cooperation with the business consultancy mind solutions, the German subsidiary of MEDA AB in Cologne successfully went from version 4.7 of its SAP system to ERP 6.0 Financials.

Walldorf (Baden) – Extensive planning and preparation, professional and process-oriented execution in close cooperation with internal experts as well as intensive after-care that includes a test phase are the hallmarks of a release change conducted by mind solutions. The efficiency of this concept was recently proven once again by the mind solutions team around project manage Torben Schuchart at MEDA Manufacturing GmbH in Cologne.

The Swedish pharmaceutical manufacturer MEDA AB has 24 international subsidiaries. Since 2006, its German production facilities have been trading as MEDA Manufacturing.

During the intensive preparation phase for the release change, the cooperation between mind solutions and MEDA Manufacturing was characterized by effective and professional communication. A workshop was used to introduce future users to new functions provided by ERP 6.0. The workshop was also used to determine the new functionality that was to be implemented. On-site meetings in Cologne were conducted in close cooperation with the responsible IT department and were also used to plan the release change in detail.

Parallel to the release change, mind solution also implemented the functions required for the new European sales tax regulations. All functions were tested along business processes and across business modules.

Several weeks after the release change, that succeeded with zero downtime, there have been no major problems. “Release changes of the SAP system at regular intervals are simply a necessity for any forward-looking enterprise, Even if these upgrades sometimes require a little effort,” says Ilona Hofmann-Lipser Manager IT MEDA Manufacturing. “The fact that the release change went ahead faster and more cost-effective than projected, demonstrates mind solution's reliability and professionalism.”
